Does not exist. If it did, you wouldn’t be reading this. That’s part of the problem. Everyone is looking for the quick fix or the magic pill that cures all. If that existed, why is it continually “discovered” or better yet, being “revealed” for the first time in human history? If it was that simple, then everyone would be slim, beautiful, wealthy, in perfect marriages, have ideal careers, and living the dream. Yet the depression rate is rising across the world according to the United Nations World Health Organization.
So why do we keep seeing claims for these miracle pills, programs, processes? Because it sells. Because people click on articles with those words (just like this one). Because people are desperate for a quick and/or easy fix. People want to have it all and have it now with the least amount of effort. And due to all the media and advertising, people believe it exists so they keep searching for it. Keep paying money to try new things. Lost are the days where slow and steady take root.
So what does all this do to people? It makes people search and try new things, spending a little here and a little there. Don’t get me wrong, trying new things is great- that’s how we learn and it can definitely move the needle. But the biggest downfall to this “ONE” thing that will change your life mentality, is the expectations it creates. It makes people believe in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and so we keep searching for it. And when we reach the end of the rainbow and don’t see it, we chase another rainbow. Over time we get tired, our feet hurt from chasing so many of them and then we blame ourselves for not finding it. And then we look at social media and think we’re the only one that didn’t find it. Our lofty expectations are met with a hard reality and we get depressed.
But what would happen if you didn’t believe all the hype? What if you believed the road to success was a slow and steady process? What would you do differently? Would you work a little harder on yourself? Would you put more time in energy in building a solid foundation for yourself? Would you read more to get smarter and be more diligent in your decisions? Would you verify and analyze things more to ensure you’re doing the right thing? If you took a little more time and thought through things more carefully and worked a little more diligently each and every day, where would you be?
My guess is that you wouldn’t be searching for the end of the rainbow. Instead, you would understand that the rainbow is an illusion without an end. You may have done some research and saw from HowStuffWorks this:
“You can‘t reach the end of the rainbow because a rainbow is kind of like an optical illusion. A rainbow is formed because raindrops act like little prisms. The raindrops split light up into bands of color. … So no matter how you move, the rainbow will always be the same distance away from you.”
